𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 🦷🐻🦧 Strengthening Oral Health Care for Sun Bears and Orangutans

For five days, from 21–25 July 2026, the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC) welcomed veterinary professionals from across the region for another intensive wildlife dental workshop dedicated to the care of sun bears and orangutans.

The workshop provided participants with valuable hands-on experience in diagnosing and treating oral health conditions in these remarkable species. Dental health plays a vital role in an animal's overall welfare, affecting its ability to feed, behave naturally, and maintain a good quality of life.

We were honoured to welcome renowned veterinary dental specialist Dr Cedric Tutt from South Africa, who led the workshop and shared his extensive expertise in wildlife dentistry. He was joined by Dr Serena Oh from Singapore and Dr Yeoh Boon Nie, whose knowledge and experience greatly enriched the learning experience.

The workshop also brought together veterinarians from a wide range of wildlife organisations and veterinary clinics, including Lok Kawi Wildlife Park, Danau Girang Field Centre, Jesselton Animal Clinic, Kinabalu Animal Clinic, Dr Pets Animal Clinic, and Pawlala Animal Clinic. Together, they created a valuable platform for sharing knowledge, exchanging experiences, and strengthening professional collaborations in wildlife medicine. Opportunities like these not only enhance veterinary skills but also contribute to improving the standards of care for wildlife across the region.
